A huge change : The COVID-19

We are in mid-March, I’m finally gotten used to life in Barcelona, at my apartment, at the tasks to be done during my internship and now everything will change due to a virus from China.

Everything went very quickly and especially in Spain. When I arrived at the end of January, a few cases of Coronavirus were already present in France but in Spain none. Hundreds of people became infected with the virus after a month and a half, and the number of cases increased exponentially day by day. The virus was no longer seen as a “simple flu” but as a real epidemic and a real danger.

It has already been a week since I went to the office and I worked from home. We were all meant to stay at home and work remotely. After a week of work at home, I learned that the evolution of the Coronavirus in France was very worrying and that it was the same in Spain. The confinement had been announced in France and the smooth running of my internship was compromised. I agreed with my internship supervisor, Mr BUKIN, to finish my internship from Bordeaux by telework until June 3.

Everything becomes very complicated because of this virus which worries the whole world. It’s unknown to everyone, everyone doesn’t know how to react. Certainly, we are asked “only” to stay at home warm, which in itself is not complicated, but it is true that it is so unusual that some people still find it difficult to respect this “simple” instruction. I also think of all the people who are in direct contact with the epidemic, who care for and care for several patients every day. Hospitals are overwhelmed, cases are multiplying, the world is bad, he does not know how to deal with this virus which he does not know.

Nobody really knows when it will all end, time seems long, people are worried, very worried even and what is normal. We could see it with the many images of empty supermarket shelves, fights for toilet paper or bottles of water. Admittedly, we are in a difficult situation but the supermarkets have stocks and are replenished every week, there is no reason to rush to fill your fridge and freezer. We must continue to shop normally, maybe by reducing the number of times we go shopping but certainly not by going there several times a week by going out with the carts filled. It’s useless!

Aside from the fact that our daily life has been completely turned upside down, so has my internship. Working from home has certain advantages, but to my taste more disadvantages. Some tasks cannot be performed remotely and others are stopped. Indeed, one of the tasks that I loved the most, concerning events, is impossible to continue since the whole world is at a standstill. I can no longer canvass companies and offer them our services for the next congresses, fairs, fairs or events… I cannot even make databases of the companies present at these events because we do not yet know if it will always location.

In addition, recruitment is also jeopardized. Since no one can leave home and travel between countries is extremely limited and controlled, no one can / wants to come and do an internship at DPOINTGROUP. Another of my tasks that I cannot properly carry out…

I try as best I can to continue my internship but it is true that it is very difficult and complicated. I continue to take care of the blog and manage social networks but unfortunately it only occupies part of the day.

I hope that the situation will quickly develop positively and that everything will return to the way it was before.
